DAY # 30: SURPRISE!

img_3036

OMG! I love surprises and today I had the best surprise ever!

Lately, the surprises I had were not real surprises. Mostly it was things coming true after a hard work or long wanted gifts. But a real surprise is when you have no idea of what is going to happen or your ideas are completely different from the reality.

Well, today in the evening I was cooking and waiting for my love to come back home. But suddenly he texted that he will be late because he is doing something that I will like. I was sure that he got inspired and was creating a new gif (a few seconds video) or something like that.

When he got home I saw the smile and joy on his face. He came in the kitchen with his coat, said has a gift for Valentine’s Day and asked, if I want to know what it is now or on Valentine’s Day. Of course, I said now! Guess what it is?! A weekend trip to Gran Canaria for two of us!

It was the best surprise ever! I was jumping out of happiness, clapping my hands and thanking him! Let’s go to Gran Canaria!

DAY # 29: HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR!

thumb_img_3029_1024

Sunday Funday and happy Lunar New Year! It was the first time when I had a chance to participate in a Lunar New year celebration and could not miss it.

We did not get out of the bed as early as we planned but if you start New Years happy and rested, all year you will be full of energy and joy, right? So we had a tasty brunch and went to the city center. Here are some photos from Chinatown:

I loved the atmosphere there! Even though the rain was pouring almost all day, there were many people hanging around.

It was a very pleasant day, walking around with my S.O., watching all those happy faces and feeling the joy everywhere. Happy Lunar New Year, darling!

DAY # 28: DIY JEWELRY HOLDERS IDEAS

DIY is one of the best things in life! I just love doing things with my hands, if you also love DIY, here are some ideas I found on Pinterest and would love to try. If you are not a DIY person, I still offer for you to look through these ideas and maybe you will find some inspiration and try one of them on your spare time.

Jewelry holder is what every woman needs but sometimes it is difficult to find the one that meets our needs. I want my jewelry holder to be a little work of art and easy to make, that is why I was looking for DIY jewelry holders made of polymer clay.

Here is a brief explanation how to make a plate:

Here are wonderful ideas how your jewelry holder could look like:

You can find various colors of polymer clay in most of the DIY and crafts’ stores. It is cheap and you can mold anything from it. After molding, bake your creature from 10 to 25 minutes in the oven in 115 C degrees heat. After baking, you can decorate it by painting with acryl or by polishing it, or you can simply leave it as it is. Just get a few pieces of polymer clay and create the most adorable jewelry holder!

DAY # 27: FLAT WHITE AND TATE MODERN

img_2932

When I was visiting London for the first time, I was mesmerised by the chaos, greatness and variety of this city. I fell in love with it deeply and wanted to see and try everything that it has to offer. Now I live here but it is difficult to feel like you are at home when you still see yourself as a tourist, trying everything and having no clue about truly the best places in the city.

For me, it is important to have a place where I could enjoy a cup of Late every time when I am there. In my hometown, I had a few places I loved so I was looking for such places in London as well.

After a little bit more than a month (summing all the time I have spent here), I finally found one place that I really like. It is a cafe on the 6th floor of Tate Modern. This place is completely different from the places I liked in Vilnius. This cafe is high, by the Themes, with a perfect view of St Pauls Church and Millennium bridge. It seemed too fancy at first but the price of a cup of coffee is same everywhere so why not to have it here and enjoy the view?

img_2936

Also, most of the times I used to drink Late but a few days ago I was doing a research about cafes in London and reading their reviews and about pages. I noticed, that many cafes write how great their flat whites are and many people wrote about the taste of flat whites as well. When in one description I found a phrase ‘Sexy Late (Flat White)’, I googled what the hell that flat white is and why everybody drinks it.

So today was the day when I tasted Flat White for the first time and I enjoyed it in the cafe at Tate Modern, with a perfect view and a great company. I am not sure if Flat White is better than a cup of Late but that cafe is perfect for sure!

DAY # 26: MIRACULOUS CHOCOLATE BAR

img_2752

I truly believe that mistakes are done for a reason! Whether they teach us something, make us laugh or direct us somewhere.

Recently I was thinking why do we have to make them. Why can not everything, what we do wholeheartedly, go fine? But, oh boy, we just have to make some mistakes!

About a month ago I received a gift. Two chocolate bars packed together. When I took the first bar, it was packed in a double layer of foil. Imagine a chocolate bar – it is packed in some nice looking paper package and in foil as well. Well, yes, this one was packed in an adorable paper package and a double layer of foil.

When I saw that second foil layer, I thought ‘Oh, cool, I have never seen a chocolate packed like that!’ Actually, I liked that double-foil thing so much that I instantly decided to make a picture of it. Also, I showed it to all family and sent snaps for my friends to show what a cool chocolate I have received.

A few days later I grabbed a second chocolate bar and was excited to unpack that awesome double foil package. And… There was no second layer. It was packed the same way all chocolate bars are packed.

Then I understood, that the first bar was packed in that double layer of foil by mistake. But that mistake made my day! I truly thought that it has to be like that and loved it because it was different from all the other packages that I have seen before!

That chocolate bar had a mission. It made me laugh and reminded, l how important it is to think out of the box (all creative souls know how important it is but we have to be reminded from time to time). Also, someone’s mistake affected me so much that it made me realise that mistakes are made for a reason. And of course, not only did it gave me so much food for thought but also was really tasty!

DAY # 24: HOMEMADE DUMPLINGS

Cooking cooking… It is challenging for me! I love tasty food (who does not??) but, oh god, I must cook more often to finally learn how to do it.

Today I wanted to make a dinner from the ingredients I had. It was some mince and curd left in the fridge. These were the products that needed to be used quickly. Somehow I remembered such thing as dumplings and decided to do them with meat filling.

It takes a few hours to make them but I had some spare time and really wanted to make something tasty for my love.

Rarely do I enjoy cooking but making them was a pleasure! And they were really tasty as well!

Dumplings with beef (25 – 30 dumplings):

Filling:

  • 300 g beef mince (of beef and pork mince)
  • 1 medium onion
  • salt
  • pepper
  • any other spices you might want!

Dough:

  • 2 cups of flour
  • 1 egg
  • 0.5 cup of water
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Sauce:

  • 1 large onion
  • some bacon
  • a slice of butter
  • a spill of olive oil
  • 150 g sour cream

First of all, make the filling. Chop the onion into small cubes and mix them with meat. Then add salt, pepper and other spices if you want. Actually, I have no idea what exactly I put into it, probably a little bit of all the spices that I have (which are suitable for the meat of course). Leave it in a bowl and make the dough.

When you are making dough, it is very important to mix everything properly. Start with mixing flour and egg. Then pour olive oil and only then pour the water. The dough has to be solid and not to stick to your arms. You might need to add some more water or flour to make it perfect.

After the dough and the filling are done, it is time to make dumplings! Roll out the dough (it should be about 2 – 4 mm thick) and squeeze out the circles of it. I used a cup to make perfect size circles. Then add some filling onto the center of the dough circle and form a dumpling. To make sure the dumplings will not open when boiling, use a fork to slightly press the edges of dough. In the end, dumplings should look like the one in the picture.

Now it is time to boil them! Boil the water in a medium or large pot, add some salt and put the dumplings into the pot. Boil them for 20-25 minutes.

While the dumplings are boiling, let’s make the sauce. Chop the onion and bacon, put them into a pan and fry over a medium heat for 7 – 10 minutes. Then add the sour cream and fry for a few more minutes. The sauce should be done at the same time as the dumplings. Enjoy!

P.s. We were so hungry that I forgot to take a picture of dumplings before eating!

DAY # 23: EATING HEALTHY

tempimageforsave-10

Food is one of the things that keeps us alive. Nowadays it is so easy to go to the store and a grab a snack or a ready-to-eat meal. But this kind of food usually contains many artificial ingredients and does not give you all the energy and vitamins you need.

One of my new year’s resolutions was to eat healthy food and to learn how to cook. That is why for today’s breakfast, I decided to make an oatmeal and my boyfriend offered to add some berries to it. So we had delicious oatmeal with raisins and blueberries!

Also, I am working on acquiring new healthy living habits and one of them is to start each day with a glass of lemon and honey water. It was my grandfather who offered me to try this. I was drinking it for a week now and I love it! It is super simple to make and is extremely beneficial for health.

DAY # 22: THE MAGIC OF TOUCH

The magic. The magic of touch. It happens, when we are touched by another person or when another person is touched by us.

We have various sensations and each of them is incredibly important. Because of them we can feel, see, smell, hear and taste. Those sensations determine how we fell but sometimes we let them control us. Also, sometimes we can provoke some sensations in ourselves and then enjoy them wholeheartedly.

Today I and my S.O. were listening to incredibly calm and relaxing playlist which included some mantras. The music itself was really relaxing and I enjoyed it very much. Then my Love came to me and started touching, patting and massaging my face.

You know how cats purr? I would do the same if I could when I am having any kind of massage!

Just imagine a silent relaxing mantra sounds and warm caring touches on your face… It was like heaven. Then I understood that two sensations are enough to feel like in heaven. Without music, those touches would still be incredible but with music, this sensation is even stronger.

A magic of touch makes us relax, clear our thoughts and to enjoy every touch. It is a pretty simple thing to do and yet so desirable.

DAY # 21: LAZY SATURDAY

After an intensive week, we all need to stop and rest for a while. The time I enjoy most is the one spent with my man. A lazy Saturday spent lying in bed, reading books, drinking cocoa and just enjoying each other’s company is absolutely amazing!

You know those moments when you feel wonderful while doing something alone? For me, it is reading! I just love to sit comfortably on a bed or sofa and read. Only when I am alone I can truly become a part of a story.

Another thing, I am not sure how about you but I always feel a little bit guilty if I lie in a bed for a half of the day. Even if it is a weekend, I still think that I should get up and do something better.

Well, when I am with Him, no matter what we do, everything feels amazing! It is wonderful to spend that half of the day in bed, not to feel any guilt, just enjoy the moment. Also, it is so lovely to read books together! It is like you are alone with your mind and the story you read but at the same time, you have a shoulder to rely on.

I wish every weekend to start like this one! Books, cocoa and we. A perfect lazy Saturday!
